iLove my iPhone
I've had my new iPhone for over a day now, and it's great! Lighter, sleeker, faster ... all that. But what I am crazy about is the new App Store.
So far I have about 4 screens full of apps that I've downloaded -- and those are only the free ones. With all these new apps, I swear you can do anything short of time traveling with the iPhone.
Here's a sample of my favorites so far ...
Box Office -- Every movie out in the theaters is listed -- sort alphabetically, or by its Rotten Tomato score. (Wall-E is still holding strong at #1 with a 97% rating.) Then click on the movie and every theater it's playing at in a given radius pops up with movie times.
UrbanSpoon -- It's a slot machine that helps you find a restaurant in a radius from where you are. Shake the phone and it will give you three categories .... Neighborhood, Cuisine, and $ amount. Where are we going for dinner tonight? Let me shake my phone. Looks like we'll be downtown, for American food, and it's listed as $$ for expense. The winner is Ten Sports Grill!
Phone Saber -- This app turns your phone into a light saber! Pick your color and move the phone and you have the appropriate sound effect as if you were swiping a true light saber in the air. I did this for about twenty minutes straight yesterday.
Holy Bible -- I have the whole Bible as an app (in over 10 different versions)! I can search for a specific book or verse and voila! It even comes with a "daily read", devotional-type feature. I can already see a new ad for the iPhone in the Bible Belt: "The Apple iPhone. The Bible in your pocket."
Shazam -- You know when a song comes on TV, or maybe when you're out somewhere and you wish you knew what it was? This app blows me away. It listens to the song and within 30 seconds will give you the title, artist, album, and a link to buy it on iTunes. We tried it out and it works on even the most obscure songs.
I could go on and on -- with many more yet to be discovered! And I haven't even gotten to the games ...
